Windows on iPad: You dreamed it, Microsoft did it

Here is Windows 365, the new “Windows in the Cloud” service presented by Microsoft during a conference on Wednesday July 14th. Thanks to cloud storage and streaming performance, the company migrated its operating system so that user sessions were no longer anchored to a single device. A major change in the relationship to the computer.

Like Microsoft 365, the subscription to Microsoft’s software suite, Windows 365 is available on subscription. But the gains are multiple: no matter what machine you use, you can access your computer anywhere, find your files and your software. Many dreamed of it: Windows on Cloud is compatible on Mac and iPad . Without any third-party software or any bug.

Microsoft began by presenting its new Windows 365 with the video below. Read on, because there is one important detail to consider in Microsoft’s announcement, however.

Price, availability …

The new Windows subscription on the cloud will be available on August 2 in Windows 10 configuration (pending Windows 11 and its new features ). The monthly payments have not yet been announced by Microsoft, which also keeps details on the different possible configurations: although the service is streaming, users will obviously have to choose a storage and power configuration of the virtual machine.

The new Cloud PC offer, as it is called, is not really a first but will democratize the device with an offer that is easy to configure. In just a few minutes, users will be able to buy and start using Windows 365. Then the program will be available on all devices and you will therefore always take your computer with you without even having your computer in your bag.

An important point, on the other hand, concerns the customers concerned. For August 2, only professionals will be able to subscribe. A deployment in private homes is not refuted, but it will still be necessary to be patient. Windows 365 will be accessible via the browser or via an application (also an iOS application, you will understand).

Update 07/15/2021 at 5:50 p.m: inadvertently, Microsoft has published a first price for its subscription to Windows 365. This is the US price, for a specific configuration for a single user: $ 31 per month (€ 26). The formula offers 4 GB of RAM for 128 GB of storage.

A spokesman explained to  The Verge: “This is pricing for a single SKU. Microsoft will have many more options, both in terms of configurations and pricing, to share when the product is generally available on August 2”. A cheaper offer would also be planned.
